A lot of people have been asking for sample strength and conditioning programs, so we’re planning on bringing you more of them on Ultimate S & C. These workouts will be presented on a “workout card” so you can use them right away or make your own modifications. We might create videos for some of them to demonstrate exactly what is on the workout.
I’ve been using Giant Sets with a lot of athletes, and they just seem to make sense to me. I especially like using a rotation of:
- Upper Body Push
- Upper Body Pull
- Lower Body
As you can see, the workout contains four different Giant Sets – two for upper/lower combo work, one for shoulders & neck and one for core. I’ve used workouts like this with a lot of football and hockey players during their off-season this year, and it’s a great way to keep things moving and get a lot done in a short period of time. This is a sample workout that could be used with just about any kind of athlete in need of total body strengthening. This kind of program is excellent for small groups because everyone can be working simultaneously.
I used this particular workout on several occassions when I had multiple athletes. When we would have 6-10 guys lifting at the same time, I would start 3-4 on the Neck & Shoulder Giant Set and the others would start at the top of the card. By the time the Neck & Shoulder group was done, the other group would be just about ready to move on so traffic would flow well. You can mix up the order in any way that works for you.
