Hey all, hope its been a productive week this far, and everyone is ready to enjoy a day off and some fireworks this holiday weekend.
I wanted to first share something that is a local story that is making national news. Here is a link to a pretty sad story, on multiple fronts really, of a soccer ref who was punched by a 36 year old ADULT in a men’s league REC soccer game. It’s absolutely heart breaking that a father of two children is dead, because someone didn’t like a call. What is wrong with people?
I am sorry for starting this weeks content off with such a sad story, but I think its important people know that there a line between passion for something and insanity. I have found some great STRONG content for you all this week.
The article by Anthony Donskow, Crossfit For Hockey: Why It’s Not a Good Fit, could really be applied to most sports, and is an EXCELLENT read. I have mentioned before that I work in a private sports performance facility, and cannot fathom every time we have an athlete with a coach who thinks Crossfit is the answer. By either taking the team to a Crossfit facility and having the team basically just integrate into whatever work is being done that day, or sending a season packet with different Crossfit workouts. His first point, seems to make the most sense to me, “You cannot train a sport with a sport.” Its important to remember that Crossfit is a sport, and the energy systems differ from that of your athletes sports. Take a look at the article, it’s a great perspective from the strength coach’s side.
Check them out and try and get some relaxation in this weekend. ENJOY your holiday!
